Hello.  This is my first post, so let me pay my respects to Ken for the fine work he's been doing here.

A few years ago I volunteered at a local library by recording books I read aloud for the blind.  The library saved hundreds (if not thousands) of hours of these books.  My question is whether or not these recordings would be useful or legal to use.  If so, then let me know so I can get them to you.

Considering that one of the main features of having an open-source speech corpus is to increase accessibility to the disadvantaged, I am willing to guess that the owners of the book copyright would be willing to cooperate.

Thanks again to everyone involved with the VoxForge project.  You might not know it yet, but you're making the world a better place.

-Jay

Hey Jay, you are welcome. Thanks for your numerous contributions btw.

About books, for sure they are useful if available if there are at least hundred hours of speech. But I think that legal issues are mostly your responsibility than ours. Why can't you just share them on librivox? Then we'll be able to use them.
