The Java applet generated a security error for me: 'access denied (javax.sound.sampled.AudioPermission record)'.

Unfortunately I lacked more than five minutes to try and fix the issue, so gave up trying.

Which version of Windows or Linux?

This post might fix your problem: Problems with Java 6 Update 16 and greater on Fedora 12 and Ubuntu 10.04

Hello!
Same here..

Sys. Info:
SO - Ubuntu 10.10 - kernel
Java - OpenJDK
Motherboard: P7145GC-M v1.0A (Phitronics)
RAM: 2GB DRR2 Markvision
HD: 250GB SATA 100
VGA: HIS Radeon 4670 512MB GDDR3
Proc.: Intel Core 2 Duo [email protected]

I dunno if the lenguage version has anything to do with it.. but mine was Portuguese -> Brazilian.

Actually, I think the problem is OpenJDK - I really like free software and etc.. but I really hate OpenJDK.

Hi,

>Java security error

The speechsubmission applet works with Fedora 14, and Ubuntu 10.4.  Upgrading to a newer distro should fix the issue.

(It used to work in Fedora 10, but there was a regression issue in Fedora 12.)

Oops, just noticed that you are using Ubuntu 10.10... dunno, anytime there is a problem like this, installing the Sun Java (instead of OpenJDK) seems to fix things until the OpenJDK issue gets cleared up.  If you can, please report the issue to OpenJDK.

thanks,

Ken

Yeah, I will report it.

I just noted that I haven't posted my kernel version, which is 2.6.35-24-generic - dunno, maybe something related to kernel..?

I will test with Sun -Oracle- Java and post here the results (I hope good ones :).

Bad news :(
.. or not!!

Sun Java worked fine! But it's sad to say that OpenJDK failed (I don't like it but I aprove the development).

For sure, I recommend to remove OpenJDK and use Sun Java - and yeah, you need to remove OpenJDK (in my case) to make it work.

Kernel update to 2.6.35-25-generic.
