German Voxforge models (HTK)

Hi! I gernated an acoustic model (HTK compatible) with the current German voxforge speech corpus and ralfherzogs GPL dictionary. You can download it here (and use it with simon as static base model if you want to): http://hotfile.com/dl/38763548/707f8a0/voxforge_de_simon-2010-04-20.tar.bz2.html The model was generated completely automatic with simon and altough I didn't do any manual optimization, I noticed that the model optimizer of simon took quite long, removed a couple of recordings and a few words from the dictionary. I tried it with a small vocabulary and altough the recognition rate is obviously not perfect it seems to work alright. Maybe you could make it available as a download? Greetings, Peter

creating new model with the use of Germany VoxForge model

Hello :-)! I need very much to create simple application which uses speech recognition. In order to do it, I need to create acoustic model for my application (which is not supported here in VoxForge). My vocabulary is really little and it contains about fifteen words. I know I need to follow this tutorial http://www.speech.cs.cmu.edu/sphinxman/scriptman1.html but I've got some difficulties with this. This is why I decided to download Germany acoustic model and try to do my model analogically to Germany model. I am aware of the fact that I ask for much but I would be really greatful if somebody experienced can guide me through the process of training acoustic model. I see you have spent really much time on training Germany model so I am sure you would be able to help a newbie a little bit :-). In order to avoid redundant posts, please visit this topic: http://www.voxforge.org/home/forums/message-boards/acoustic-model-discussions/creating-new-model-with-the-use-of-germany-voxforge-model#FjNVxta-IKzo76sePraN1g . Greetings :-)!

interesting German text to read

A friend of mine might be willing to contribute some German speech. However, she would like to read something that is entertaining to read. That means that she would prefer to read a normal text and not simply prompts in the Java submission app. Would this be helpful? Obviously it creates some extra work, since she would upload for instance 15 minutes of speech all in one recording. Someone else then needs to chop up this recording into fragments that are short enough to compile an acoustic model with. If it is still useful, can someone give me a link to a text that is interesting enough both from her perspective and from the perspective of VoxForge. I already know the Gutenberg project, but would appreciate it if someone could point me towards a specific text from this project or from somewhere else. Thanks!

Hi there, I've checked in a first version of a hand-corrected (mostly by ralfherzog, thanks!) pronunciation lexicon that conforms to the Pronunciation Lexicon Specification. I'll try to train some G2P based on this data and check out if this improves over our current espeak-dictionary. Cheers, Timo

some remarks about transcriptions

Hi Ralf, I'm currently processing (and at least partly reviewing) the transcriptions so far acquired. I've noticed, that you are often not correctly paying attention to "Auslautverhärtung". Especially, I have changed all participle forms ("schlafend", "rennend", ...) to not end in /?nd/, but to end with a /t/. Also, I've mostly changed /?n/ to /n?/ in these cases, unless the preceding consonant was already /n/. I think this besser matches how these are pronounced.

German Acoustic Model

Hello everybody! I saw that somebody has already trained a german acoustic model for Sphinx! Great! I was very curious and so I tested it using the HelloWorld Example of Sphinx4. I used small grammars containing digits and/or words like 'langsamer', 'schneller' etc that are listed in the vocabulary of the model. Unfortunately I have the problem, that the program always recognizes the same word regardless on what I say... If I change the grammar, another word is recognized again and again. Has someone else tested it with sphinx4 and has an idea what could be wrong with my configuration? Greetings, Rebecca

Hey Ralf, I've checked some of your recordings, there are too much speech from you I suppose :) Model will be too overtrained if it will contain only your voice But, there is an amazing advantage of the large database - we can easily create German TTS voice for festival, what do you think about it?

Building a Dictionary with the Help of eSpeak

Hi, I have uploaded a little script to convert eSpeak's (v. 1.29) output to something that is close to our phoneme set. More information is available, the script itself is here. Please try to use it and inform me of any problems you may have. We should now go on and start to build a dictionary for the words contained in our contributions. Then continue on for other important words. For the moment we will have to review the output of our scripts. Maybe we can find someone interested in grapheme-to-phoneme conversion and improve eSpeak's output or build or own G2P?
