Perhaps it would be better to have a sub forum that deals with recording equipment at large? I.e. microphones, soundcards, how and where to record speech, recording devices... Microphones and other hardware?

I don't want to nag, it's always incredibly difficult to decide on the most ideal categorisation of information. I think it's a good decision to also have a section on hardware (whether that is microphones or more). More good information means more visitors and there are many more people searching for "Best microphone for speech recognition" than there are people searching for "how to improve WER". In theory, more visitors means more speech...
